Help Save Jinx: Urgent Care Needed for My Best Friend

Hi everyone,

I never thought I’d be in this position, and I don’t like asking for help or making my problems known to anyone—but right now, I really need help to save my sweet cat, Jinx.

Recently, Jinx started isolating herself and completely stopped eating. Concerned, I took her to the vet, where bloodwork and a urine sample revealed that she has suffered liver damage due to her loss of appetite (and by extension, lack of food in her body). I have brought her back since the initial visit to give her fluids in an attempt to provide some nutrients directly. Unfortunately, she still does not have an appetite, and while we are hopeful she may regain it on her own, it’s looking more and more likely that she will require an emergency procedure to save her life.

The vet has recommended either a Nasoesophageal (NE) Tube or an Esophagostomy (E) Tube to ensure she gets the nutrition she desperately needs. This procedure may also require her to stay overnight for monitoring. The good news is that if we act quickly, the vet believes Jinx has a very real chance of making a full recovery. However, without one of these procedures, her chances of survival are extremely low. My vet does not preform these procedures at their facility, so I have been recommended to take Jinx to either the Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital or King Animal Hospital for treatment.

The estimated cost of the surgery, hospitalization, and post-procedure care is $4000, which is overwhelming to cover on my own, and why I am starting by asking for $2000 to help cover the most urgent expenses. Jinx has been my best friend for the last 12 years, my source of love and comfort, and I’m not ready to say goodbye. I will do everything I can to give her the best shot at recovery, but I need your help.
