Jimbo is our 4–6 month old kitten, and from the moment we met him, he’s been nothing but the most precious boy. He’s gentle, affectionate and super sweet, even when he’s struggling to breathe. When we noticed his breathing wasn’t normal, we took him to the vet, hoping for answers but never expecting the heartbreak that followed. After X-rays, we learned that Jimbo has a ruptured diaphragm (diaphragmatic hernia). His organs have shifted out of place, and the vet could barely tell what was where. They could even see what appeared to be his intestines in his lungs. The vet told us it was a miracle Jimbo was still alive and that he can't live on like this without surgery. Despite everything his tiny body has endured, Jimbo keeps fighting. He still purrs and asks for cuddles, just like any other kitten. The specialist the vet referred us to estimated the surgery would cost $6,000–$8,000. We truly wish to get our precious boy the care he needs because he deserves a happy life, but this is far beyond what we can afford on our own. Jimbo has already beaten the odds for months. He deserves the chance to grow up, to breathe freely, and to live the happy life every kitten should have.
