Hello, my name is Sara and I have my most recently adopted cat, Jax. He is a goofy and playful baby boy. We adopted him from the San Diego Humane Society in February of this year, and he was only a year old. My partner and I wanted to adopt a young cat to keep my older cat company and bring some energetic fun for her. We just wanted to give him a relaxed home with us.

Recently, at the beginning of December, we noticed he had a limp on his left leg. We didn't think much of it, maybe it was a sprain. But we took him to the vet to see what it could've been, and unfortunately, we couldn't afford his x-rays or blood work on that vet-scheduled day. On Sunday, December 14th, we had to take him to the Vet ER and have him seen immediately as he has not been eating, walking, peeing, or doing anything and has just been super sleepy and not active. We finally got his x-rays done and blood work. I show some x-ray pictures and his leg isn't looking too good. They found an abscess in his leg that we need to be able to remove, and the vets are also suggesting leg amputation, but the cost of that surgery would be close to $7,000-$8,000. Just to get him seen and all of the x-rays done at the ER, we have already paid close to $2,000. We unfortunately cannot afford this surgery and without the surgery, we have to put him down. That night was very upsetting and confusing for me and my partner. We had to think about putting him down because we wouldn't be able to financially get his surgery. So, I am asking for the littlest help from anyone, please, so we can at least try to save his life. He is only so young, and we are deciding between the help he needs or not helping him for financial reasons.
