My brother Niko and his dog Jane have been best friends since the day he brought her home as a puppy. Jane is six now, and she’s been my brothers loyal companion through every high and low. Not long ago, Niko was hit by a drunk driver, which left him injured and out of work for a while. He’s just started a new job and was finally beginning to feel hopeful again when Jane suddenly became very sick.

After rushing Jane to the vet, we learned she has blood in her stomach, likely from a cancerous mass. The only way to save her is an urgent, complicated surgery. Without it, Jane won’t make it. The thought of losing her is devastating—she’s family, and she means the world to Niko.
