Hi, I'm Andrew and I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of my brother Jacob. I know many people reading this may know how awesome Jacob is and know his character but some of you may not know him. He is a selfless, caring, hard working man who strives to always do his best with everything. He works hard and plays hard.
On August 11, 2021 while playing in the championship game for a work softball league in Arlington, TX he was struck in the head with a softball. Jacob was transported to Arlington Memorial hospital via ambulance with a very traumatic eye injury resulting in Jacob being completely blind in his left eye.
It was determined Jacob had a broken orbital bone and a severe Hyphema (bleeding in the eye). One week later after some of the bleeding had stopped, he had what was supposed to be a 30 min emergency eye surgery to drain the blood from his eye. After 2.5 hrs of surgery they determined Jacob had a globe rupture. He had split his eye "like a tomato", the doctor stated. They drained the blood from his eye and placed 8 stitches on his eye ball to try to save it. During this surgery they also determined he has a torn retina. Jacob will have to meet with a retina specialist once the swelling goes back down in his eye to determine what surgery/surgeries can be done to help him see again.
We believe God always has a plan and is the master healer/miracle worker and am believing for a full recovery with full sight. We need a miracle. We believe part of God's plan can include Him using doctors and surgeries, if He so chooses, and are following the advice of the medical professionals placed in Jacob's life. We are so grateful for all those that helped Jacob so far and ask for prayers for Jacob please.
We do not like to ask for money but Jacob is on strict bedrest, unable to work or do anything. His sick leave at work runs out this week and short term disability will not be enough to pay his bills. The medical bills are starting to increase as well with the emergency room, ambulance ride, doctors visits and he had to pay close to $5,000 for his most recent surgery. At this time we do not know how many more surgeries Jacob will need. We ask that you would prayerfully consider donating to Jacob to minimize the financial burden this had placed on him. We will keep everyone updated as we find out more. Thank you.
