Help Save Jacks’ Life: A Fight for Our Sweet Boy

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to ask for help in saving the life of my sister’s beloved dog, Jacks. Jacks is only 5 years old and is currently fighting for his life at the Akron Metropolitan Emergency Vet Hospital in Ohio. What started as a diagnosis of autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) has quickly escalated into a series of severe complications while being admitted to the ICU for the last 5 days.

In addition to his initial diagnosis, Jacks has developed blood clots in his liver, which has led to liver injury, portal hypertension, and dangerous fluid buildup in his abdomen and chest. These complications have made his situation critical, but the good news is that the veterinarians believe Jacks still has a fighting chance.

Jacks now requires a specialized procedure that can help pull off the excess fluid from his body and transfuse his blood, much like dialysis for humans. The procedure must be performed at Ohio State University Emergency Vet Hospital, where they can provide the level of care he desperately needs. The vets predict his chance of survival will go from 50% to 80-90% after this procedure.

My sister, a responsible and loving pet owner, has always gone above and beyond to care for Jacks. She has pet insurance but unfortunately it only covers about 1/3 of the current expected expenses, and the total cost of this procedure and ongoing care is overwhelming. I know my sister would never ask for financial help herself, but I can't stand by and watch her carry this burden alone when Jacks has a real chance to survive.

Jacks is more than just a dog to my sister. He is a loyal companion, a sweet soul, and a source of joy. He deserves the chance to live a long and healthy life, and with your support, we can help make that possible.
