Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help to save Izzy, my 7½ year old German Shepherd, who is truly the love of my life.

On March 6th, Izzy suddenly became very sick, and I immediately brought her to the emergency vet. She was bleeding internally and they found over a liter of blood in her abdomen. She was rushed into emergency/exploratory surgery to save her life.

During surgery, the vet discovered a small tumor on her liver that had ruptured and caused the bleeding. Because of its location, they weren’t able to safely remove or biopsy it at the time. They did everything they could to stop the bleeding and save her life, and we were urgently referred to a board-certified specialist.

We were incredibly lucky that Dr. Kristin Wendelburg with Mobile Surgical Precison in Bonita springs, FL, accepted Izzy’s case immediately. She performed a second, more complex surgery to remove the tumor and part of Izzy’s liver. Thankfully, the surgery was a success. Even more hopeful, there were no other visible tumors or masses found anywhere else in her body.

But 7 days later, we got the biopsy results that broke my heart.

Izzy was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, a very aggressive form of blood cancer.

From everything I’ve learned and have been told, we could have as little as 1 month… or, if we’re lucky, up to 2 years together. No matter what, it will never be enough time with her.

Right now, Izzy is doing amazing. She’s acting like her happy, energetic, loving self. The same dog who has been by my side through everything. If you met her today, you wouldn’t even know she’s fighting cancer.

I rescued Izzy when she was just 6 weeks old from a rural town in Alabama. The bond that Izzy and I share is something that words can’t fully capture. She’s a piece of my soul and has been my best friend for the past 7 1/2 years. She has gotten me through some of the hardest years of my life. I truly don’t know who I would be without her.

I’m doing everything I can to give her the longest, happiest life possible. This includes:

• Two emergency surgeries

• Ongoing monitoring and vet care

• Potential chemotherapy

• Holistic treatments like acupuncture

• Supplements such as turkey tail mushrooms (Im-Yunity), Yunnan Baiyao for bleeding support, probiotics, and milk thistle

• Specialized diet changes

The cost of her emergency care alone has been overwhelming, and the ongoing treatment will continue to add up.

I’m asking for help to cover and recover these expenses so I can focus on what matters most—giving Izzy the best quality of life and as much time as possible.
