Hello, my name is Andy Howl and I have been the co-owner of HOWL Gallery/Tattoo since we opened in downtown Fort Myers in 2009.
Our shop has a rich 15 year history of hosting local and touring visual artists, musicians, and performers. I launched the popular community art events, Art Walk and Music Walk in downtown Fort Myers, which helped reinvigorate the historic district.
In 2013, we relocated to a larger, more affordable space, across from the Edison Mall on US41.
After more than 10 years in our current location, Fort Myers Code Enforcement and the plaza landlords have been baselessly harassing us.
Since May of 2023, Code Enforcement has cited us for multiple permits never previously required. We have always been diligent in our licensing and permitting compliance.
The landlords, who purchased the plaza in 2021, have used this as a pretense to evict us while simultaneously raising rent and maintenance fees, in attempt force out multiple long-standing tenants.
This has already been a months long fight. Legal fees combined with slow season and the inability to host events have crippled us financially.
We are in need of donations to help cover bills, lawyer fees, and the possibility of relocating.
Help us fight this harassment and bullying by the city and landlords.
