Honey has been my little sidekick since 2014, when I adopted her from a shelter at just four months old. My father only knew her for a short time and he passed when she was then 6 months old and he's been gone for that equals to her age almost 11 years ago. She helped me get through losing my dad. From the very beginning, she’s been a sassy, sweet, and stubborn girl—a true fighter with a big personality. Sometimes it’s her way or the highway, and she’s always kept me on my toes. She’s also incredibly loyal and protective, even stopping on our walks to make sure strangers pass by before we continue. Honey is difficult and amazing all at once, and she’s been by my side through so much.
Unfortunately, Honey’s health has always been an up-and-down battle. Now, she’s facing her toughest challenge yet: a serious abdominal problem that requires immediate hospitalization. When I bring her in, I believe the doctors are going to tell me she needs to stay for long periods of time. I’m terrified of what that might mean for her and for me. The costs for her care—ultrasound, X-ray, IV fluids, and possibly intensive care—are overwhelming, and I’m facing some very difficult decisions.
I STILL want to hold onto hope and do everything I can to help Honey fight through this. If you feel moved to help, whether it’s a little or a lot, I would be so grateful. Your support could make all the difference in giving Honey the chance she deserves. Thank you for reading our story and for considering helping us in this difficult time.
