Hi, I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help, but I’m reaching out for my daughter’s pony, Honeybee.

Honeybee is a mare and belongs to my 13-year-old daughter. We have had her for around 5–6 years, and she is a huge part of our family.

She is currently under veterinary care with North West Equine, with a serious and painful condition affecting her genital area, which has caused severe infection and tissue damage. Despite getting the vet involved straight away, her condition has worsened and she now urgently needs surgery to remove the dead tissue and stop the infection from spreading.

Without this operation, her condition could become life-threatening, and we have been told that without treatment we may have to make the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep.

The estimated cost for treatment and surgery is between £1,200 and £3,000.

I want to be completely honest — I had planned to cover unexpected costs like this through compensation I am waiting on from a Criminal Injuries claim. This has been ongoing for nearly 3 years and is now in its final stages, but unfortunately the money hasn’t come through in time for this emergency.

Because of this delay, I’m now in a position where I simply cannot cover the full cost alone, and Honeybee cannot wait.

Honeybee is a gentle, kind pony who has brought so much happiness to my daughter over the years. Seeing her in pain like this is heartbreaking.

My daughter is absolutely devastated. She even wrote a letter to Father Christmas just gone, saying she didn’t want any presents, she just wanted her pony to be okay.

We just want to give Honeybee the chance to recover and live comfortably again.
