My name is Nevaeh Jundi, and Honey is more than my dog. She is my constant, my comfort, and my family. We grew up together through every chapter of my life, from my very first day of preschool to where I am now in college. Every milestone, every hard day, and every quiet moment in between has had Honey right by my side. I truly cannot imagine a life without her.
Recently, everything changed in the most heartbreaking way. On December 26, Honey became lethargic and stopped eating. I knew something was wrong, so I took her to the vet hoping for answers. We were sent home with medication to help keep her comfortable and encourage her to eat. I held onto hope that she would start to improve, but instead she continued to decline.
On the morning of December 29, I woke up to a sight that will stay with me forever. Honey was covered in blood and feces and was clearly in distress. I rushed her to the vet, terrified of what I might lose. After further testing, we were told the devastating news that she has severe pyometra, a life threatening uterine infection. The infection is advanced, and without emergency surgery to remove her uterus, she will not survive.
To make this even harder, Honey’s platelet levels are dangerously low and continue to drop. Because of this, the veterinary team has advised that she needs a blood transfusion before surgery to give her the best possible chance to make it through. The estimated cost for the transfusion alone is between two thousand and eight thousand dollars, in addition to the emergency care she has already received, the surgery itself, and the aftercare she will need to recover.
I never imagined being in a position where money could stand between my best friend and her life. I am doing everything I can, but the costs are overwhelming. I am creating this fundraiser to help cover a portion of these medical expenses and to give Honey the fighting chance she deserves. She has spent her entire life loving me unconditionally, and I am determined to do everything in my power to fight for her now.
Any donation, no matter how small, helps more than I can ever express. If you are unable to donate, sharing Honey’s story means just as much. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me try to save my girl.
