Hobbs means the absolute world to us. He’s the most outgoing, social, food-loving cat you could ever meet. He always wants to be around people—especially if there’s food involved—and he fills our home with so much personality and love.
Recently, Hobbs struggled for nearly five days to pass a fur ball. We could tell something wasn’t right, so we brought him to the emergency vet to make sure nothing more serious was happening. After evaluation, they determined he needed surgery. Thankfully, they successfully removed a very large fur ball, and we truly thought we were finally in the clear.
But shortly after bringing him home, everything changed. Hobbs began having extreme difficulty breathing. We rushed him back to the hospital, and he was placed in critical care on continuous oxygen and IV fluids to stabilize him.
After further X-rays and testing, the vets discovered that Hobbs has pneumonia. As frightening as that was to hear, it was actually somewhat positive news — because they were initially worried it could be heart disease, which would have been much more severe. Pneumonia, while serious, is treatable, and the vet team is optimistic that with the right care, Hobbs can recover within the week.
His treatment plan includes oxygen therapy, fluids, and strong antibiotics to fight the infection. The biggest challenge is the cost: oxygen support alone is about $1,000 per day, and he is expected to need roughly five days of this in order to safely recover. This is on top of the costs from his emergency surgery, hospitalization, medications, X-rays, and ongoing monitoring.
We want everyone to know exactly where this money will go — directly toward Hobbs’ life-saving care. Every single donation helps cover his oxygen, fluids, antibiotics, and hospital stay while he fights off pneumonia and works toward breathing on his own again.
Why He Means So Much to Us
Hobbs is only three years old and has so much life left to live. Over the past year, we went through two fertility treatments that unfortunately failed. Our pets are our family—they are our kids, our comfort, and our happiness. Losing Hobbs is something we can’t imagine, and we want to do absolutely everything we can to give him the chance he deserves.
This emergency was completely unexpected, and without pet insurance, the costs have become overwhelming. Any support—whether through donations or by simply sharing this fundraiser—means more to us than we can ever express.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us fight for Hobbs. ❤️
