Luna came into my life after surviving something no dog should ever experience. At just eight months old, she was thrown from a moving vehicle and left on the streets before being taken to the Riverside shelter. Not long after, I adopted her while I was grieving the loss of my previous dog, who had passed away from pancreatic cancer. Luna helped bring light back into my life during a very difficult time.
In 2023, my life changed dramatically. I lost my home and my business, and Luna and I spent nearly two years homeless. Through it all, she never left my side. Eventually, we were able to move into a small off-grid tiny house, where we’ve been slowly rebuilding our lives. I work full time, but my income is very limited and every dollar goes toward basic living expenses.
Then in January, everything changed again.
On January 12th, I noticed a sudden swelling on Luna’s leg. Just a week later, on January 19th, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. Since that day, I have spent every bit of my savings trying to get her the care she needs — vet visits, diagnostics, medications, and consultations.
The first veterinarian we saw was less expensive but ultimately didn’t feel comfortable performing the surgery Luna needs. We were referred to another veterinarian with more experience, but the cost is significantly higher. The estimate reflects not only the surgery itself but also the extensive care and diagnostics required to give Luna the best possible chance.
I have already spent nearly all of my life savings trying to help her. I would do anything for this dog who has stood by me through the hardest years of my life. Luna has been my constant companion through loss, homelessness, and rebuilding. She deserves a chance to keep living the life she fought so hard to have.
The funds raised will help cover the surgery, veterinary care, medications, and some of the emergency expenses that have already been paid out of pocket during this crisis. I have shared the veterinary estimate, and donations can be made directly to the veterinary clinic if preferred.
Taking time off work to care for Luna has made this even more difficult financially, but she needs me right now just as much as I need her.
Any support — whether through donating or simply sharing this page — would mean the world to both of us. Luna has survived so much already, and with help, I’m hoping she can keep fighting.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for caring about Luna and giving her a chance.
