Help Save Happy Hollow-Forced to relocate after 30 year

Donation protected
Once upon a time, two cousins, with the unwavering support from their family, bought a preschool.

Our story begins in November 2019. Delayed due to COVID, finally in August 2020, we became the new owners of Happy Hollow Children’s Center in Beaverton, Oregon. Happy Hollow Children’s Center has been a community staple in childcare for over 30 years. Chances are you, your children, or someone you know attended Happy Hollow Children's Center.

Since August of 2020, we've survived the pandemic mass closures of childcare centers, experienced a roof leak in 2021 (closing a classroom for restoration and renovations), a creek flood in Dec. 2022 (closing 2 classroom spaces for full restoration and renovation), and then another creek flood in 2023 (closing the newly renovated classrooms again for dry out/restoration and forced under-enrollment). After the second flood, we knew needing to move was in the future. Little did we know…

This brings us to August of 2024. The landlord notified us 4 days before the new school year started that they had listed the properties Happy Hollow operates on for sale (Happy Hollow uses 2 separate lots since the inception of the program to maximize our outdoor-focused program). We've now had legal battles to fight for our rights to remain at our property through this school year.

Both property lots have officially been sold, and we now navigate 2 new landlord arrangements with increasing and additional legal costs.

We've pursued every creative thought and angle we can to try finding a new location, even asking programs to share a space/sublet to us while we transition. The community has been unmatched in their words of encouragement and ideas, but we still haven't officially secured a location to move to.

We've found a building that matches the needs and identity of our program, and yet we don't have the funding to even get into it (first and last month's rent to sign the lease and move forward).

This is where you come in! HELP US SAVE HAPPY HOLLOW! The seller/landlord of the prospect building is willing to put in a significant amount towards the build-out to retrofit the space for us... BUT we have no extra pennies to move forward to get that process rolling.

WE ARE NOT GIVING UP!
Our partnerships with organizations like Northwest Regional Educational Services and Inclusive Partners are unmatched in our area and a model that needs to continue.

Our team of 9 teachers, 7 of whom are working moms whose children are in or have been in our program, need your help to secure a new location to be able to continue doing their heart's work in early childhood education.

Please help!
