This is Gunner.

I named him after a close friend of mine who took his own life. I wanted something good to carry my friend’s name forward — something loyal, something steady, something that would still be here when the world got heavy.

For almost 10 years, Gunner has been that and more.

He’s been my shadow, my buddy, my stability through injuries, PTSD, and some of the darkest chapters of my life.

There were nights where the only reason I didn’t take my own life was because I knew he would be waiting for me… and he would miss me.

Gunner saved me more times than anyone knows.

Now he’s the one who needs help.

A few days ago, he was diagnosed with mast cell cancer. We’re waiting for pathology to come back so the vet knows how much additional tissue needs to be removed along with the tumor. The surgery alone is estimated at $2,000, and that doesn’t include follow-ups, medication, or any therapy he may need afterward.

I hate asking for anything. I never thought I’d be here creating this page.

But I love this dog with everything I have, and I can’t give up on him.
