Help Save Goosetown

Donation protected
It's become a bit of a tradition for me to raise money for a non-profit on my birthday. As I approach my 40th birthday this year, I reflected on where I wanted to focus my efforts, and there was really only one answer -- our family business. This is hard for me. My Father was always so proud, he never asked for anything. But it's in that vain, that I ask you to help us now.

The pandemic has hit our business hard. With the exception of a few hours a day during the summer months, our bar has been forced to completely shut down. My Mother has done everything she can to keep the business afloat, but we are very close to losing it all. Let me tell you why this matters.

My parents have run a bar called Goosetown since 1996. Over the last 24 years, they have built a business that is not only known for their karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights, but is known as an open door to anyone and everyone. A place where everyone feels welcomed. If you've been to Willow Glen, you know Goosetown. It's not just a bar, it's a community that has become family. It's what my Dad always wanted.

We lost my Dad - the heartbeat of Goosetown - in August of 2019. This in itself was a hard enough transition. My Mom worked hard to carry on. But then Covid struck and she was forced to shut down in March of 2020. She has done everything she can to adapt as she adheres to the ever changing rules. But it's been almost impossible. Bars aren't "essential" --- but I assure you this bar is essential to us. This bar is not only my Father's legacy, but it's my Mother's source of income.

So this year, for my 40th birthday, all I want is to see Goosetown survive. It's not just a business to me, it's every memory I have of my Dad. It's not just a business in Willow Glen, it's a staple in the community that represents family.

There are so many small businesses this year that need your help. My ask of you is to help us save ours. We've set an ambitious goal of $20,000. This will help Goosetown for another two months. This will cover our rent, utilities and insurance.  I pray this is all the time we need to see Covid restrictions ease and allow us to open our doors again.

On behalf of my Mother, my Sisters and our entire family - THANK YOU for considering a donation.  The act of asking for help is really hard for us, and we wouldn't do it if we didn't really need it. I promise to keep you updated on progress and what we're able to do.

When this is all over, and we can be together again, I look forward to sharing a drink and a hug with you at Goosetown.
