Help Save Goober
Donation protected
Hi, I am creating this fundraiser for a neuroscience graduate student in my lab, Caela. Her six-year-old cat Goober is having a medical crisis and is currently receiving oxygen and supportive care at the emergency vet.
Caela is the most kind-hearted animal lover I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Just this year she has fostered two other cats with special medical needs. She has also paid for extensive medical care for her sweet labrodor, Vince, this year.
Caela first met Goober at the PSPCA in 2020. Goober was originally found in a hoarding situation with over 100 other cats. Due to neglect, he had some preexisting medical issues, and needed to have his tail and leg amputated, as well as needing surgery to help fix his eyesight. Caela was devoted to nursing him back to health and providing him with a loving and caring home. He was very shy and scared when they first met, and did not stop hiding for over a month, but within as little as a year Goober has transformed into a sweet cuddle bug.
Goober started to display some neurological and cardiovascular complications several days ago, and while he is not in active heart failure, he has needed extensive medical care from an emergency vet. Caela has been doing everything she can to take care of him, and has been heart broken thinking she could lose him, especially when he is still so young.
His treatment has cost $3500 so far, and as a student, I and the other members of our lab have been concerned about the financial burden this will put on her on top of the emotional stress she is already experiencing. Please help contribute to help save Goober!
