Help Save Gladik: A Ukrainian Cat Fighting for His Life in UK.
This is a heartfelt plea for Gladik, a brave cat who traveled from Ukraine with his devoted owner, Inna. In the midst of unimaginable hardship, Inna refused to leave her beloved cat behind. She went back to Ukraine to bring him with her to safety, hoping to give him a peaceful and happy life.
Unfortunately, the long and stressful journey took a serious toll on Gladik’s health. Shortly after arriving, he became gravely ill, and despite Inna’s best efforts, his condition worsened. Desperate to save him, she rushed him to the vet, where he has been receiving intensive care.
Gladik is fighting for his life now, and Inna is facing an overwhelming vet bill on top of extremely expensive travel cost from Ukraine to UK. She has given everything she has to keep him alive, but she can’t do this alone.
This is the heartbreaking story of Inna and Gladik in her own words:
My name is Inna, and I am from Ukraine. I came to England in December 2022. I have a wonderful 26-year-old son, Mark, and an adorable cat, Glad. Until recently, they remained in Kyiv, supporting each other despite the constant danger from Russia’s attacks.
On January 6, 2025, my son was urgently called to serve and defend Ukraine. He left so suddenly that he didn’t even have the chance to say goodbye to Glad or hug him one last time. My beloved cat was left home alone, and with no close relatives to care for him—most of our friends had already fled Ukraine—I had no choice but to return urgently to Kyiv to save him from starvation. I brought him to England so we could be together.
Our journey took four days, traveling by train and car, but we finally reached safety in Southend-on-Sea, UK. Unfortunately, the immense stress Glad endured has led to serious medical complications. He has been diagnosed with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) and is experiencing recurrent urinary blockages that require urgent and advanced medical care.
The veterinarian recommended an emergency catheterization costing £1,400, but, sadly, it did not help. The next day, Glad’s condition worsened, and he was urgently referred to a specialist hospital in Basildon for treatment estimated at £3,000. Time was running out for him.
I am devastated because I simply do not have the funds to pay for this treatment. I have no pet insurance, and I do not qualify for a bank loan, as most banks require at least three years of residency in the UK, while I have only been here for two. I spent my last savings arranging the necessary documents and transportation to bring my cat to safety.
Glad, or Gladik, as we affectionately call him, just turned 4 years old on January 27. His name comes from the word glad, because he brings happiness, pleasure, and joy to those around him. He is incredibly sweet and affectionate, loves cuddles, and enjoys playing hide and seek.
Please help us provide the urgent medical care Gladik needs. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing our story to help us reach others who might be able to assist.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support.
Inna has already sacrificed so much to keep Gladik safe. Now, she needs the kindness of others to help save his life. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser—together, we can give Gladik a second chance.
Thank you for your generosity and support. ❤️
