Hi, my name is Annie. The gorgeous dog in the picture is Gem. Gem is my roommate and I’s dog that we got about five years ago. She’s the most loving, cuddly dog anyone’s ever met. Gem was recently taken to the vet for a limp that we thought was only a minor injury. The vet informed us that this was not the case, Gem had a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament in both of her hind legs. This means she pulled the ligaments keeping her joints from bending the way they shouldn’t. The vet told us she would need to have surgery on both legs to repair the ligaments. If she doesn’t receive this surgery within 5 months, her limp will turn into a complete tear, leaving her unable to walk, and in such excruciating pain we will have no other choice but to put her down. As much as we would like the surgery to happen as soon as possible, we need the money to cover medical expenses. Both surgeries are estimated to be at minimum $3,000 each. We’re both college students working minimum wage jobs with no financial support so you can imagine how difficult it would be to come up with this kind of money. We’re asking for as much help as anyone is willing to put forth, absolutely anything is appreciated.
***Update***
Gems surgery costs have been cut in half thanks to an extremely helpful family friend who’s willing to do the surgery for less. They even managed to squeeze her in for a surgery 3 months earlier than expected and her surgery for one leg is scheduled for October 19th, thank you to everyone who has donated so far, every little bit helps and you have no idea how much it’s appreciated!!
