My name is Jessica, I was a special education teacher for 15 years and retired early due to medical disability. I’m reaching out with an urgent plea to help me save a sweet puppy named Gabe.

Gabe was the last of seven puppies born to a beautiful mama dog who was euthanized after ending up at a high-kill shelter in California. Gabe was added to the euthanasia list and placed on a medical waiver due to a treatable respiratory infection. He is a sweet, gentle, loving little soul who deserves a chance at life — and with your help, he can finally have one.

When I saw that he was added to the euthanasia list on 9/4/25, I scrambled to see if there was anything I could do to save him. I was ready to fly from Wisconsin to California to bring him here, but unfortunately I would not have made it in time. I lost my job a couple of months ago after being hospitalized for yet another medical condition. I'm not the type of person who usually asks for things, and if I do, there's a reason and a need. I just couldn't let him die.

I’ve found a wonderful rescue organization who was able to successfully pull Gabe from the shelter and will transport him across the country to me, where he’ll have a safe and loving forever home. But to make this rescue possible, I need help covering the costs associated with saving him.

Transportation and boarding fees to bring Gabe safely out of the shelter and travel to his new home

Neuter surgery and initial vetting

Follow-up medical care for his respiratory infection

Food, toys, and supplies so Gabe can begin his new life in a loving home
