Help save Fred Tatum from tax foreclosure

Donation protected
I received his call last night. His voice was ragged, he sounded tired. He was crying and could barely say my name. I didn't know how dire his situation was, I had never heard him cry.

Fred Tatum is like a second father to me, he taught me all I know about construction. He has given so much to me and many more and I am powerless to help him.

Fred is 3 years delinquent on his property taxes. His home, which he built over 40 years ago, will be foreclosed at the county auction by the end of August if he can not pay.

Fred is 86 years old, a veteran of the Korean war, a father estranged from his children, a widower going on 20 plus years. He used to run big construction crews. He used to build sub-divisions. While showing me the ropes he would point with pride to the countless buildings in Kansas City that he had worked on or stories from clubs long shuttered that he wished he could have taken me to. His work was his source of pride.

He still works every day. Fred now works odd jobs, working for people who can't afford to pay going rate for construction projects. He struggles to stay ahead of his debt. His mind is sharp, his knowledge is impressive, but the physical demand is taking its toll.

He has unsuccessfully tried to get tax relief from the county. He was turned away from the VA. He cannot secure personal loans because of the delinquency. He has exhausted all his options. I have exhausted all my options in trying to help him.

He needs help and he turned to me, the one person left to help him.
I need your help. Fred needs your help. If we can pay his delinquent taxes he can breathe. He can regain some dignity and be able to do more than tread water. With has taxes paid he can apply for programs for assistance he is ineligible for. He can downsize and spend the rest of his life in peace not in fear of having the house he built taken from him.

Please consider making a contribution. Anything will help and make such an amazing difference in this man's life.
