Renate has poured her heart and soul into Freakin Sweet Jars, a sweet shop that’s been serving up the best jars in the area. Using her family’s cherished recipes, and with her whole family chipping in to bake and serve, she’s created a treat that is an instant bite of bliss. Her shop is more than just a place to buy treats; it is a testament to her dedication and resilience.
Recently, Renate has faced some serious challenges. She weathered the pandemic and has had some ongoing health issues and now she’s at risk of eviction due to back rent from when the mall was closed. She is otherwise current on her rent. Despite these setbacks, Freakin Sweet Jars is finally seeing business pick up, but Renate needs a boost to get through this tough stretch so she can avoid eviction. She has received a demand letter and has just ten days to pay in full; however, they have also added in money for percentage rent, which significantly increases her total due.
By helping Renate, you’re not just saving a sweet shop—you’re preserving a piece of the community and supporting a Black-owned family business built on love, tradition, and perseverance. Every contribution brings her one step closer to stability and keeps the doors open for everyone who calls Freakin Sweet Jars their favorite sweet spot.
If everyone who follows her on Instagram donated only a dollar, she would surpass her goal. Please, consider donating. Any amount helps.
