Some of you may know about my little dance studio, Flight Risk Aerials – we're an alternative dance studio featuring aerial dance (like silks and lyra- circus stuff), pole dance, belly dance and all sorts of unique dance forms. It's been a second home to so many people including myself, and a really unique way for people to stay in shape, relieve stress and get creative. If it sounds like your kind of place, but you haven't been, I hope you get to check us out. I hope we come out of this and you get to catch a fun class, try something new, see us perform.
We have tried our best to act responsibly by remaining closed, hosting only online classes, and starting July 2nd, we are legally allowed to host private lessons and “one-on-one training sessions”, but these are only a trickle of funds. We owe back rent, and have no known re-opening date scheduled by the state- there is also the fear of a second wave shutdown closing us again.
Although we applied for the EID Loan, and completely qualify, after a 2 month wait, we were denied (this *might* be due to a discrepancy in mailing vs. business address, or it might be that the program is out of funding again- we have submitted for reconsideration)- regardless, even if we are approved, we have no idea when that assistance will arrive, or even *if* it will. I have been paying Flight Risk's rent out of my own personal funds while waiting for this loan that may never come, and I have been out of work with no unemployment benefits since early March- my pockets are empty, so I'm asking for help.
If you've ever taken classes, seen one of our students shows, know a student that loves taking classes with us, or even if you're just happy that unique quirky things like Flight Risk Aerials exist in the Universe, we'd greatly appreciate any help you could throw our way. I took over running this place 2 years ago without paying myself because I couldn't stand to see it close. Anything and everything is helpful!
