Help Save Finn: Urgent Medical Fund for Our Beloved Dog
UPDATE:
It's Saturday, September 14.
We are home with our little Finn man and he's stable for now.
This doesn't mean he's better. Looks like, at this point, that he's not going to get better. Not really.
Based on the latest bloodwork, he is not a candidate for going under anesthesia. This means that we will not be pursuing any tooth extractions - which is what we previously believed was his biggest issue.
We've shifted gears a bit. We are now focused on making his time at home with us as comfortable and as love-filled as possible.
We are still accepting donations to go towards the handful of medications that he takes daily, vet appointments, bloodwork follow-ups, and any other expenses that pop up, though this is no longer a focus. We've also decided that if any funds are donated beyond what we need, we will donate the balance to a dog rescue or organization that we know and love.
Thank you for all of your well wishes and love and donations. It means the world to us. We have felt so supported and held through this time and cannot fully express how much it has meant to us.
Truly, every word of understanding and every dollar donated has filled us up.
For now, we cherish the time we have left with our beautiful little man.
Thank you for caring and thank you for being here with us.
We love you.

Our initial Call to Action deserves a spot in the story, so we're keeping it here:
Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Supporters,
I’m reaching out today to ask for your help in a situation that’s deeply personal and incredibly urgent. My partner, Teri, and I are facing a heartbreaking reality with our beloved dog, Finn. He is Teri's boy, but ever since she and I started dating, Finn has become a huge part of my life too, and I love him as if he were my own.
Recently, Teri and I got back from being out of town to find Finn in bad shape. We immediately took him to the emergency vet where he spent 2 nights in the ER hooked up to IV fluids. Finn was diagnosed with acute chronic kidney disease along with severe periodontal disease. He has terrible ulcers eating away at his gums and cheeks. The news has been devastating for both of us. The cost of his treatment is staggering, and despite doing everything we can, the medical bills are becoming more than we can handle. Teri’s deepest fear is that she will go broke trying to save Finn, only to lose him in the end. I share that fear, and it’s something that weighs heavily on both of us every day.
Finn isn’t just a pet—he’s family. He’s been a constant source of love, joy, hilarity, and comfort in our lives, and it’s unbearable to think of losing him. Our little man still has so much life left in him, and we’re determined to give him every chance to recover and continue being the wonderful dog that he is.
We’re humbly asking for your support to help cover Finn’s medical expenses. From all we know right now, these are expected to total around $11,000, and could be significantly higher. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward his treatment and care, giving him the best possible chance at a full recovery.
In the name of full disclosure, the cost of his recent 2-night stay in the vet emergency hospital plus medications was $4,620. He will need at least one more night - probably two - in the emergency room when it is safe to do his final tooth extractions (the rest of them will likely need to be pulled) to make sure he is stable enough to go under anesthesia for the procedure. We assume that this will cost at least another $4,500 - $5,500. We also know that more costs will accrue, we just don't know what they are yet.
If you can’t donate, we completely understand, but we would be incredibly grateful if you could share this campaign with others. Your kindness and generosity could make all the difference in saving Finn’s life.
To avoid fees collected by this website, we also gratefully accept donations directly through venmo: @TeriWyble
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support during this difficult time.
With deep gratitude,
Shanna and Teri
