Help save family of selfless Afghan interpreter

Donation protected
Overview
We are raising money for the family of our friend, and former Afghan interpreter to the US Army's 303d Military Police Company. This selfless interpreter risked his life for US soldiers on many occasions and because of that his family is now in grave danger. They have fled their home and are in hiding as we work to find a way to get them out of Afghanistan.

The family
Our interpreter's family has 10 people and includes two adorable young girls under five years old. Several men in this family have served in the fight to make Afghanistan a peaceful country and are receiving targeted death threats. The women in this family are all highly educated, making this family an even bigger target. For their safety, we are not sharing names or pictures of the family.

Evacuation process
Evacuation is taking much longer than we had hoped. The family has been in hiding for over a month now, and is draining their savings supporting their family with basic food and housing needs as they desperately await evacuation. Once they finally make it out of Afghanistan, they will likely spend close to a year in a 3rd country where they will go through standard security screening processes and wait for visas to the United States to be approved. Every day of their wait (both in Afghanistan and in the 3rd country) will come with substantial expenses for food and shelter. We remain hopeful that someday we will be able to welcome them to our hometown. However, they will have to leave Afghanistan with nothing more than what they can carry in a small backpack.

How donations will be used
We have spent $5,175 of the funds raised on Humanitarian Parole application fees. All additional money raised will go towards helping the family start their new life here in America. As you can imagine, covering basic needs for a family of 10 once they arrive in America will be incredibly expensive as we wait for their work permits to get approved. We greatly appreciate any contribution toward helping us make the transition a little bit easier for this family who has been through so much hardship.

Non-profit organizations to consider supporting
If you are able to donate, but prefer to give to an established non-profit organization, we recommend Task Force Argo and Team America Relief who are groups of volunteers who are tirelessly working to evacuate out Afghan allies.
