Update;
Edwin has a new pulmonary embolism and needs emergency treatment. He has been unable to work the past few weeks due to his eyes. If you feel lead, please help!
Hello, I am writing this for my friend Edwin. I have known Edwin for 7 years now, since the day I met him on a medical mission ship. He was helping to serve his fellow Dominicans with very much needed dental and healthcare. Edwin grew up in an orphanage in the Dominican Republic, and since leaving the orphanage, has been trying to make his way and become an independent young man, which is difficult to do without family support. In addition, although he is fortunate to have Dominican papers, he is Haitian and the tensions between Dominicans and Haitians continue to escalate. He has faced many trials, including most recently a brutal attack which lead to multiple medical issues including pulmonary embolisms, GI bleeds, and development of a cataract.
He has managed these conditions as best he can. He has to be very careful with his diet in order to heal his stomach, which increases the cost of food, and he is on maintenance therapy for his blood clots. He has continued to work hard as a seller for a real estate company, but due to his extra needs, the low incomes and high costs in the DR, continues to struggle to even eat.
This job has good potential, but now with the development of a cataract, his vision is struggling. He will need surgery soon, but needs to save up the funds before he can do it.
I am starting this fund hoping for help with his upcoming eye surgery, and continued need for blood thinners to keep the blot clots from forming.
Edwin loves the Lord and through all of his trials believes that God is good! I continue to hope for good things for Edwin, and ask for help with these medical needs.
