Help save Dusties Life
Donation protected
Hi Guys, some of you already know who Dustie is, but for those of you who don't here is her story.
First of all... Dustie is fully insured however as the rescue knew she had the condition it was classed as pre existing and is not covered under insurance.
Dustie is a 10 month old french bulldog who I am fostering on behalf of Every Paw Matters rescue (EPM). Dustie came into EPMs care at 3 months old, she was resuced from being put to sleep by her breeder because she was born with a condition called ectopic ureter meaning her ureters to her bladder were not in the right place and she was incontinenent as they bypassed her bladder. She had surgery at 7 months old to correct this. Since her surgery she has still been leaking urine. She has now been diagnosed with urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence meaning the muscle to her bladder which hasn't had to do anything for the first 7 months of her life is now not working and is not holding her urine in her bladder meaning she is still incontinenent. We have tried a stimulation medication but this has not helped. Dusties only option is another surgery. It's a surgery to place an Artifical Urethral Sphincter which is a device that is fitted surgically and consists of a cuff that is placed around the urethra which can be inflated from a port placed just under the skin.
Without this surgery Dusties life is limited. Incontinence causes infections and Dustie has already had 7 rounds of antibiotics in her short 10 months of life and the vet has said they will now only treat clinical signs of infection ie temperature/sickness/lethargy. Until Dustie succumbs to kidney failure due to infection. We are all utterly heartbroken.
I know it's alot to ask but if anyone would be kind enough to donate to help Dustie get this second surgery we would be more than grateful. She is a beautiful little girl with so much life left in her to live. She deserves to live a full life and I vow to fight as hard as I can to get her it. She didn't ask to be brought into this world this way and I will do all in my power to try not let her condition take her out of it.
If you have any questions or would like to check this isn't a scam etc. Please contact Every paw Matters on Facebook they can validate everything.
Thank you for reading.
