Our beloved dog Dubh suddenly became paralysed and was rushed for emergency treatment. A CT scan revealed a severe grade 5 spinal lesion — a herniated disc affecting four vertebrae.

He needed urgent life-saving surgery (£4,000). Vets told us that blood was tracking along his spinal cord, and if it had reached his diaphragm, he would have stopped breathing.

The surgery saved him, but he is still hospitalised and paralysed, and needs ongoing care to have any chance of recovery.

We urgently need help.

We have no pet insurance and live on a very limited income. We’ve already paid:

PDSA emergency stay + X-rays: £233.24

CT scan: £2,000 & Spinal surgery: £4,000 (paid for with credit so still making payments).

Still needed:

Hospital care • Rehabilitation • Medication • Mobility equipment & hydrotherapy.

Dubh is only 8 years old and adored by our three children and our other dog, who was lost without him.
