Help Save Dominic: A Donkey In Need Of Urgent Medical Care

Donation protected
UPDATE 1/21/25 Dominic is home!!!!! He was discharged this afternoon. He has some restrictions for now but we are so happy he is home. Miracle (his mom) was so happy to see him home and to talk to him. They won't be able to be together until he has his strength back. But for now, they both know Dominic is home. We
still need your help because after he is recovered, he then has to go back to get neutered. Please continue to share and donate if you can. Thank you everyone for your support.

UPDATE: 1/20/25 We received another great update from Dominic's doctor this morning. She said, "Dominick looks great this morning. Very bright and loves attention. Is enjoying the view of some snow-covered trees outside of his stall. His flushes have been productive, and he got another dose to break up the debris in his pouch. His vitals have been normal, and he's got great appetite. We will plan to scope him again tomorrow morning, but based on how it's been going, discharge later tomorrow afternoon/evening is likely feasible.

UPDATE: 1/19/25 We received an update from the Vet this morning. Dominic looks great this morning, very happy and bright and looking for lots of attention. We flushed out his pouch again and it was productive and he was very well behaved. He loves to hang out by the window and say "Hi" to everyone, eating really well for us. We plan on flushing the pouch again, hopefully there isn't too much left in there. We gave him a big hug from you all, and the students love him so he's getting a lot of attention.

Meet Dominic, a fun energetic mini donkey we rescued (and his mom) a year ago. He captures the hearts of everyone that meets him. Now he desperately needs your help.

Dominic is facing serious health challenges. He is currently being hospitalized at the University of Pennsylvania New Bolton Center for a bacterial infection of his guttural pouch, termed "Guttural Pouch Empyema." The guttural pouch is a special structure only seen in equids which is thought to aid in regulating air pressure and blood temperature within the head. This infection results in large amounts of inflammatory material filling the guttural pouch which can result in difficulty breathing and eating. His procedure has become complicated due to his size and the vets are having to work hard together multiple times over days to get the pouches clear. The medical bills are expected to be between $2500-$5000!!!!

Dominic originally went to the veterinarian to get neutered until they found his condition. Once he is home and healthy, he will need to go back and get neutered. This will bring his bill to $4000 -$6500.

Dominic is the cutest little mini donkey and deserves to continue to live a happy, healthy life. He is strong and resilient, he just needs your help to become healthy again. By donating to Dominic's fundraiser, you'll be giving him the gift of health and comfort. Every dollar makes a difference.
