08/22/24 Pupdate: Dom is eating and drinking, and blood levels are stabilizing. We believe his organs are recovering as well. He will need to have daily bandage changes but will be able to come home. We’re so thankful for everyone’s support
**Help Save Dom: Our Brave Pup Needs Your Support**
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
We are reaching out with heavy hearts and a desperate plea to help save our beloved dog, Dogminic Toretto - aka Dom. Our sweet pup, who has been a part of our family for years, was recently bitten by a rattlesnake. What started as a normal day turned into a nightmare when we rushed him to the emergency vet, terrified of what might happen next.
Dominic is a fighter, and thanks to the incredible care of the veterinary team at the Animal Emergency Clinic of San Diego and Amazing Strays Rescue, he has survived a week of hospitalization and endured two blood transfusions. While we are grateful beyond words that he is still with us, the battle is far from over. Dominic is still in critical condition and needs ongoing treatment to recover fully after infection and organ failure.
We have already exhausted our savings to cover the initial emergency care. However, the cost of Dominic’s continued hospitalization and treatment is overwhelming. We’ve been told that he needs additional care to ensure he can return to a healthy and happy life. Unfortunately, total estimate is likely to be anywhere from $12,000-$15,000.
As much as we wish we could do this on our own, we cannot. We are asking for your help to save Dominic and give him the chance to live a full life. Your donations will go directly to his medical bills, including continued hospitalization, treatments, medications, and any necessary follow-up care.
Many might say euthanasia is the better option. We disagree. If it was a human child many would find a way to pay the same cost. I know that all of you pet parents can understand. Dominic means the world to us. He’s more than just a pet—he’s family. Every little bit helps, whether it’s a $1 donation or simply sharing this page with others who might be able to help.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Jake, Carolina, & Dominic
