Help save Devout Gallery in Los Angeles

Hi,

Taylor here! I own and run Devout Gallery (previously Raking Light Gallery) in Los Angeles, a gallery devoted to the tattoo community. I have been curating and working with tattoo artists from all over the world and their art for close to 4 years now.

Tattooing is one of the oldest living art forms and it has influenced so much art and culture throughout the world for so long. My main goal in having this gallery has been to fuse tattoo culture with the contemporary fine art world. In efforts to not only elevate tattoo art, but to preserve and pay homage to so many cultures and histories of tattooing. As an artist first and foremost myself, it has always been important to me to create a safe space that serves as a platform for artists.

I have been facilitating and funding this venture completely by myself without any investors or business loans. (I have not been able to qualify for any business loans.) I never knew how hard it was to try and obtain grants and business loans until I had already taken the risk and dove in. I also have never been in a position to fund this myself, while not making any money, not even to cover my overhead. I purely have chosen to believe in what I have been doing, greatly at my own expense.

2025 has proven to be a real challenge for so many of us, especially in the arts. I have reached a point where I need real help to keep functioning and I can't pretend that I have it all together. I don't. In an effort to keep my little space in Echo Park open, the time has come for me to ask for some real help.

These funds will be used to pay the rent, utilities and insurance for the art and gallery. Help pay for website costs and costs affiliated with each opening as well as shipping costs for the artwork and artists. Also help pay personal debt that has been accrued maintaining and keeping the doors open and running.

*If you donate $125 I will send you one limited edition, high quality tote bag

*If you donate $1000 I will send you a handmade wool rug from Nepal with artwork by one of the artists I've worked with. These retail at $1400, are super limited, and will never be made again.

*If you donate $2000 or more I will let you choose from an original piece of art out of my personal collection. Mostly paintings. All of the works are valued at over $2000 and are made by world renowned tattooers.
