To see David Minshew's childhood home, where he is living to provide companionship and care to his widowed mother, is heartbreaking. A giant tree in the front yard crashed through the roof and ceiling Thursday morning during Hurricane Ian. David's mother Janet was in the room when it happened, but luckily got out before the ceiling collapsed.
But now, of course, there is the aftermath. While the insurance company will pay to have the part of the tree that fell on the roof removed and for repairs, it won't pay to have the remainder of the dangerous tree removed or for any other expenses. And, of course, there is a substantial deductible.
Also, David is a collector and seller of vintage records, books, CD's, etc. This is how he makes his living. With 6,000 items currently for sale on Amazon, his inventory is vast -- and in the house. He'll have to get it to safer grounds.
Please contribute what you can to help our longtime friend and mensch David and his mother Janet get through this devastating mess.
This is for GoFundMe: I am a personal friend of David Minshew's. He is a lifelong resident of Central Florida and a talented and well-known local musician. The funds raised here will go to costs related to damages to his home incurred during Hurricane Ian.
