Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,
I am writing with a heavy heart on behalf of my husband Dave, who is facing a life-altering medical crisis.
Dave has been diagnosed with a rare and challenging brain tumor called Optic Nerve Sheath Meningioma (ONSM) — these comprise about 1% of all meningiomas. It has already caused 60% vision loss in his left eye, and a portion of the tumor is now growing in the direction of his right optic nerve. This type of tumor is tightly wrapped around his optic nerve, encasing it a full 360 degrees, making it incredibly dangerous and difficult to treat.
Because of the tumor’s location and complexity, standard brain surgery is not an option. Dave needs care from a highly specialized neurosurgeon experienced in treating ONSM — and unfortunately, that kind of care comes with a very high cost.
If this surgery isn’t done soon, Dave will completely lose sight in his left eye, and there is a frightening possibility that the tumor will begin to affect his right eye as well.
This is especially heartbreaking for us as a young family. Our first daughter just turned one, and we’re expecting our second baby early next year. Dave is an incredibly loving father and partner, and I wish for him to see both of our children grow up — to see their faces, their smiles, their first steps, and all the moments that make life beautiful.
We are humbly asking for your help to make this surgery possible. Our goal is to raise $200,000 to cover:
* Specialized surgical care from a skilled neurosurgeon that can treat this
* Travel and lodging near the treatment center
Please help by donating. Whether it is $5, $20, $100, or even $1,000, every penny will help us be able to get the proper treatment to save Dave’s vision. Your support truly means the world to us and helps bring us closer to helping Dave — and his ability to be the present, loving father he so deeply wants to be.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping us through this incredibly difficult time. With your kindness, we hope to give Dave the chance to keep his vision and continue being the amazing father and husband he is.
With deep gratitude,
Rue Glaser
