Friends/Family/Acquaintances: I can honestly say, I have never felt more hopelessness than I do right now. I generally refuse to ask for help for anything, but I see no other choice this time. We are out of ideas, options, and time. I was on disability for 3 years, fought my way back and have been working for 2 years now. Kathy has had 3 surgeries in the past 5 years and chronic pains in her abdomen and back have kept her from working regularly. She has been looking hard for a remote position for the past several months. With her pain, she cannot stand for too long, so retail or restaurant work is out. Getting ready every morning and sitting in the car commuting to and from a workplace every day is not feasible. The amount of stress we feel is so overwhelming it has been causing health issues for me as well. We have been basically living off one paycheck for a couple of years. I can cover the essentials (groceries, gas, internet, utilities, phone, etc), but have not been able to make mortgage payments, especially since our payments went sky high with the automatic modification after our bankruptcy. Our rate went from 3% to 7.5% overnight.

We need help! If anyone out there can help Kathy with a remote job in Cash Applications, Payment Processing, Data Entry, or something else that does not include call center style customer service or collections, please let us know. She does not have experience with medical billing but is willing to learn. She’s not being picky about work, just trying to work around physical and mental health issues.

The other help we need is a much bigger ask. We need money. Money will buy us time until Kathy can get to work. We will be going into foreclosure soon. The only place we have to go is my family’s house, which is already overcrowded. I would not have a place to work, and I feel it would destroy me with anxiety and depression. I love my family dearly and I know they would make sure we have a roof over our heads, but it would be horrible for everyone. We need over $20k to catch up and get out of default. I set up a GoFundMe page with zero expectations. Things are rough out there for everyone and we are not in as bad a situation as some, which is one reason I never ask for help. I figure someone always has it worse. I know this would not be a long-term solution. Kathy finding employment is crucial. If we do not get enough to save our house (extremely likely), we will use any money donated to try to rent a place. It really hurts me to even ask, but we are beyond desperate at this point. Please help us if you can. If you can’t or choose not to, we completely understand and of course would never hold that against anyone.
