Help Save Darling's Life: Fund His Surgery

Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I need your help...

My beloved 2-year-old Scottish Fold cat, Darling, just underwent a urinary tract unblocking surgery yesterday, which we caught just in time before it was too late. However, he still needs to undergo a kidney stone removal surgery on Monday after recovering, and the hospital bill is over 6k. Unfortunately, I have no pet insurance and am struggling to come up with the funds to pay for his much-needed surgeries.

I am a new cat owner, and I did not know male cats are known to have urinary tract blockages and prone to crystals and kidney stones. If you are reading this, and you are about to be a new cat owner, or you are a new cat owner, please go to the vet as soon as you see your male cat is peeing unusually, or if he is licking that area often. I will share the things I learn along the way~

Darling was unusually squatting in random places in my apartment for like 10 mins and he was peeing about 3 drops.. this was last Sun, 2/19... I gave him cranberry UT treats.. hoping it'll help.. then on Thurs, 2/23, he was growling and whimpering which is unusual for him.. and I knew something was really, really off.

Trying not to panic and make this vet visit affordable... I called 6 different animal clinics in my area for appt/pricing to get Darling checked up. The prices just to see a vet were $110+ EXCEPT Lake Forest Animal Clinic which was $88, and they had an opening earliest at 2:30p. At the appointment, I learned that the hospital bill will be up to $4,500 and an additional $1800 for his kidney stone removal, and additional $2k per night on the weekend for his hospitalization... I was in shock just how much the bill was going to be... BUT DARLING HAD TO LIVE..!!

As soon as Darling was seen and the doctor checked his penis, she pointed out he was blocked and felt his stomach and said he needs to go into surgery NOW and needs to get unblocked. Update: he is getting his UT flushed out with fluids and it is unblocked but he still needs to get the kidney stone removed.. his surgery is scheduled to be on Mon, 2/27.

Darling is more than just a pet to me; he's a member of my family. He has brought me so much joy and comfort, and I want nothing more than to see him healthy and happy once again. I am reaching out to the kindness of strangers and friends to help me fund his surgeries and give him the chance to live a long and healthy life.
