Daisy is not just a dog—she is my family. She is like a child to me, and my kids even joke that I love her more (even though she was adopted). Born on 5/2/20, Daisy was rescued from a puppy mill in Mexico when she was only 7 weeks old. She is the smartest, most incredible dog I’ve ever known. Daisy potty trained in just one week, “talks” to tell us when she needs to go out, knows her colors, opens the oven and refrigerator, and can even lock and unlock doors. But more than that—she has the biggest heart. She loves everyone she meets, especially children, and she loves to help and to “work.” She even saved my grandson’s life when he passed out at the dog park—she stayed right by his side the entire time. Daisy loves to swim, protect, and be part of everything our family does. She is truly one of a kind.
A few days ago, Daisy accidentally ate raisin bread. While she seemed okay at first, things quickly took a turn. Yesterday, her creatinine levels increased, and today they doubled—her kidneys are now suffering from toxicity. She has already spent several days and nights in the emergency hospital, and the costs have become overwhelming. We brought her home last night, hoping she would be more comfortable and start eating—and she did. She ate, drank, and seemed like herself again, even this morning. We were hopeful. But after taking her back in for rechecks, we received devastating news—her levels have worsened significantly. The veterinarian is recommending an additional several days of IV fluids in hopes of flushing the toxins from her body and saving her kidneys. The deposit alone is substantial, and that does not include additional testing, medications, or any further care she may need. I have already taken out loans and opened credit cards trying to cover her care, but I still don’t have enough to move forward with the treatment she desperately needs.
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help saving my dog, Daisy. Right now, she needs help. If you are able to donate—no matter how small—it would mean everything to us. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing Daisy’s story. We are fighting for her, and we are not ready to give up on her. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, support, and prayers.
