Daffy came into my life in the most unexpected way. I found her dodging cars along a busy road as I was driving home from the grocery store. It looked like she had been hit by a car before I stopped to find out what happened. When I opened the car door, she ran across the highway and put her paws up on me. I immediately took her to my vet, who checked her out, treated her, and started her puppy shots. He said she was only 9 weeks old. This was in Arkansas, and from that moment, Daffy became a cherished part of my family.

Daffy moved with us to Visalia, CA, where she comforted my husband through a terrible injury and later my mom, who suffered from dementia. She has always been there for me, offering love and companionship through every challenge life has brought. Now, Daffy is facing her own battle. She has been ill for 20 days, and after many vet visits, a specialty clinic performed an ultrasound and found a bowel obstruction. Without surgery, she will not survive. I am 82 and rely solely on Social Security, and I have already spent everything I have to get her this far. The cost of surgery is more than I can manage alone.
