Help Save Cookie: Our 10-Month-Old Kitten in Critical Condition.

I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help in saving my beloved cat, Cookie. He’s a 10-month-old orange domestic shorthair with a bright, loving personality who has brought endless joy into our family's life since I adopted him at just 9 weeks old. Normally full of energy and affection, Cookie suddenly fell very ill, barely moving, not eating, and clearly in pain.

After rushing him to the emergency hospital, he was hospitalized and has now been under 24/7 care for the past three days, with no clear end in sight. The initial diagnosis was diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). This life-threatening condition occurs when a cat’s body can’t produce or use insulin properly, causing dangerously high blood sugar levels and serious complications.

Since then, his condition has worsened. His pancreas and liver are severely inflamed and painful. His white blood cell count is abnormal, and there’s a high suspicion of infection. Despite multiple rounds of bloodwork, X-rays, ultrasounds, and continuous monitoring, the underlying cause remains unknown. The veterinary team is continuing to run advanced diagnostic tests to determine the root cause of his illness.

Cookie is currently being treated by specialists at a critical care center. Sadly, his progress has been minimal, and in some areas, he’s even worsened.

Back home, his brother Crackers — who has been by his side since they were tiny kittens — is waiting anxiously for Cookie’s return. They’re inseparable, and Crackers has been noticeably distressed without him.

The cost of Cookie’s care has already exceeded $12,000, with more expenses expected in the coming days. These sudden and severe complications came without warning, and we are doing everything we can to give Cookie a fighting chance.
