Help Save Coco: Lifesaving Surgery for a Senior Rescue cat

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Ramya, and I’m fundraising to save Coco—the sweetest rescued street cat who deserves a second chance at a healthy, pain-free life.

Coco lived outside for years, surviving on her own. She was one of the many stray cats I feed and watch over every day. For so long, she was healthy and had a big appetite, always coming to eat when I brought food.

But recently, I noticed her slowing down. She stopped eating the way she used to, lost so much weight, and seemed to be in pain. It absolutely broke my heart.

When I realized how badly she needed help, I knew I couldn’t give up on her. But it wasn’t easy. Coco was wary of people and wouldn’t let me get close at first. I tried for days to carefully and gently trap her, spending hours making sure she felt safe enough to go in.

I refused to give up. I knew if I didn’t act, she’d continue to suffer alone on the street.

When I finally trapped her, I took her first to the most affordable vet I could find, because I didn’t have any financial support lined up yet. At that first visit, they did a basic physical exam and some bloodwork, but given her age, the mammary mass, and dental disease, they recommended euthanasia as the most realistic option.

It was devastating to hear.

But I couldn’t let that be her ending.

Even though she was “just a stray,” I refused to walk away. I decided to fight for her.

I chose to take her to my trusted vet, Dr. Palma at Circle of Life Animal Hospital, who has 40 years of experience and is known for her compassionate, thorough care. It’s more expensive, but I wanted Coco to get the best possible chance.

Dr. Palma believes Coco can have a good life if we treat her. She worked with me to create a detailed, thoughtful plan to give Coco the chance she truly deserves.

Coco’s treatment plan with Dr. Palma includes:
✅ Repeat full blood panel to check organ health before anesthesia
✅ FeLV/FIV testing to confirm viral status
✅ Fecal testing for parasites
✅ Comprehensive dental evaluation and charting
✅ Pain management medications to keep her comfortable
✅ Antibiotics and steroids to reduce severe dental infection and inflammation
✅ Full-mouth dental X-rays to assess damage and plan safe extractions
✅ Thoracic and abdominal X-rays to check if the mammary mass has spread
✅ Complete dental extractions so she can eat pain-free
✅ Surgery to remove the mammary mass if X-rays confirm no spread
✅ Follow-up care and recovery visits to ensure healing

✨ Even after just two weeks on her medications, Coco is already showing incredible improvement. She’s eating so much better now, with her appetite slowly coming back. She’s stronger, more alert, and even started playing with toys again. It’s amazing to see the hope and life in her eyes now that she’s not in constant pain.

Despite everything she’s been through, Coco has been so brave. She’s learning to trust me more every day. She lets me hold her, purrs like crazy, even licks my hand for minutes at a time. She’s started to come out of her hiding spot to greet me. She knows she’s safe now.

She’s ready to fight. She wants this chance.

The estimated cost for all of this is $8,000–10,000, covering her vet visits, imaging, medications, surgeries, and recovery.

I’m just one person caring for her while also feeding and watching over 25–30 stray cats every single day. On top of that, I also have Jazzy, my own special-needs kitty who requires extra care, medications, and vet visits himself. Balancing Jazzy’s needs, the large outdoor colony, and Coco’s intensive daily care and medications takes an incredible amount of time, energy, and money.

I need to keep up with feeding the other strays too, along with covering Coco’s everyday expenses—her special food, medications, follow-up vet visits, and making sure she’s safe and comfortable.

✨ Asking for help isn’t easy for me. I’ve done everything I can on my own, but Coco’s care is simply more than I can afford alone. She deserves this chance, and I’m willing to ask for help if it means saving her life.

How Your Donations Will Help:
✅ Medications and pain relief
✅ Bloodwork, imaging, and lab tests
✅ Dental surgery and extractions
✅ Mammary mass removal surgery
✅ Follow-up visits and recovery care
✅ Special food and supplies

Your kindness is literally giving Coco the chance to stay alive, to heal, and to know what it means to be safe and loved. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring about her. It truly means the world to both of us.

✨ I want to be completely transparent with everyone who donates. I’ll share photos of Coco at her vet visits, receipts, and updates on her progress so you can see exactly how much your help means. Please note: I’m choosing not to share the name of the first vet out of respect for their practice. They offered euthanasia as an option based on her condition, which is understandable, even though I chose a different path for Coco.

❤️ Thank You For Your Support ❤️
I want everyone to know that every donation will be used only for Coco’s veterinary care, medications, surgeries, follow-up, and daily comfort. As someone who also feeds 25–30 stray kitties every day, I’m committed to full transparency and giving Coco the best chance at a safe, healthy life.
