Hi there.
We are running this go fund me page on behalf of COCO and his family.
My name is Andrea and I run The Office Furniture Outlet in Keighley
My name is Tamara and I work at the Keighley Train Station
We are both good friends with Nazia who is the owner of COCO the most famous cat in Keighley or better known as the 'Train station cat' and myself and Tamara are like god mummies to Coco - always making sure he safe and sound when out on his travels between businesses
If you are local then you will have probably met COCO on your travels. To some he is known as DAVE and others he is known as RYDER but to many people he is simply known as 'THE TRAIN STATION CAT'
Over the years COCO has become part of our local community and loved by so many people.
He is a really friendly, loving cat who loves to explore outdoors and loves to meet people. He visits the local companies around Dalton Lane from The Office Furniture Outlet, The Train Station, Go Ryde taxi rank, Keighley College and he is even known to have called in at Asda.
He has become the famous cat of Keighley and he often appears on Facebook and people taking photos and videos of him and he is even now appearing on Tik Tok visiting the new taxi rank on the station.
Coco has brought comfort, laughter and smiles to so many people without ever asking for anything in return.
You may be wondering why you havent seen him around for the past 6-7 weeks. Even people are starting to ask 'Where is Coco/Dave - we havent seen him in a while'
The truth is heartbreaking!!
Instead of Coco's daily visits to see people all happy and bubbly and full of life, getting his strokes, cuddles and treats, he has been in and out of the vets fighting for his life.
He has been diagnosed with FIP - Feline Infectious Peritonitis which is a devastating but historically complex immune-mediated disease in cats. It is caused by a mutation of the common feline coronavirus. While once considered nearly fatal, recent breakthroughs in antiviral drugs have dramatically improved survival rates and treatment is available.
He is also suffering from Pancreatitis, anaemia, jaundice and fluid around his abdomen. Despite everything he is facing, he continues to fight every single day, showing us just how brave and determined he is. Treatment is available but it does not come cheap at all. The costs of the vets bills for x-rays, blood tests, injections over the last few weeks have been vast and now the added expense and stress to COCO's family is the cost of the treatment to cure him.
The cost of the 12 week treatment alone is 3k - this doesnt include the costs already spent on vets bills
You dont expect these things to just happen and unfortunately Coco wasn't insured and the unexpected veterinary/medication bills are simply more than the family can manage alone
Myself and Tamara are so close to Coco, he has been part our daily lives for almost 4 years and we have also got close to Nazia his mummy - So between us we wanted to offer our help and support and try and do some fund raising to help towards the medication and vets bills to ease the pressure on the family and to get Coco through this horrendous time.
We all want to see Coco back up and about and meeting and greeting people like he has done over the years.
Coco is only 4 years old and will be celebrating his 5th birthday this November. Our biggest wish is that Coco recovers from this horrible disease and can return to the life he loves and Coco's family get their beloved cat back to himself to celebrate his 5th birthday and he can be back on the train station meeting people and visiting the local businesses again, putting smiles on peoples faces again
Please please please we are asking for any donations you could offer which will all go towards the cost of the treatment and ongoing care to help save Coco. Any donation will help - every penny counts.
Thank you for believing in Coco and for giving him the chance to keep fighting. The family's and our hope is that with your kindness and support as a community, our beloved train station cat can be back out on his rounds soon.
From the bottom of Coco's family and our hearts, thank you for any donation, every share and every kind message. It truly means the world to us all and is greatly appreciated.
Sending much love and gratitude from Coco's family and ourselves
There will also be a cash donation bucket located in the train station should you have any loose change to donate
Thank you for your help and support.
