Hi, my name is Peter, and I’m fundraising for my uncle — Jorge, or as we all lovingly call him, Coco.

Tío Coco isn’t just my mom’s brother — he’s been a constant presence in my life since the day I was born. He’s the heart of our family, the one who brings everyone together, the glue that holds us all tight through every up and down. His smile, his laughter, his energy — they light up every room he’s in.

A few weeks ago, we received devastating news: he has been diagnosed with stage 3 esophagus cancer. As you can imagine, this has shaken our entire family, especially those of us closest to him. We are heartbroken but hopeful.

On Tuesday, he is undergoing a major, high-risk surgery to try and remove the cancer. The doctors will have to operate around his stomach, lungs, and throat, and there are many serious risks involved. Our family is scared — but we’re holding on to faith, to each other, and to the hope that with support and love, he can get through this.

My family lives in Ecuador, and healthcare costs can be incredibly overwhelming. On top of the surgery, there are post-op treatments, recovery care, medications, travel expenses, and so much more.

That’s why I’m reaching out and asking for your help.
