I am no longer fundraising - thank you all so much for your support and helping us to reach our goal. Below is Cinnamon's story:
On Saturday, October 25th, between 8pm and 10pm, our beautiful, beloved cat Cinnamon was hit by a car on Bowes Street. The driver fled the scene, but not before heartlessly removing his tracker and collar, leaving him for dead.
When our neighbours heard his desperate cries, they rushed outside and found him and immediately rung me and I ran back home. He couldn't stand and was in excruciating pain. We rushed Cinnamon to an emergency pet hospital in Worsley, not sure if he would make it. He's hanging in there, but has experienced life-changing injuries.
His pelvis is shattered in three places, his spine is out of alignment and he has severe trauma requiring intensive care.
On October 29th Cinnamon finally started eating again, which is a huge milestone. But the road to recovery is long. He cannot go to the toilet by himself and needs manual bladder expression three times daily. He faces a minimum of 8 weeks of cage rest, and surgery remains a possibility.
Despite everything, Cinnamon's spirit is shining through. Even in hospital, he has tried to climb onto the vets' laps and nuzzle them. He's a real little fighter.
Many of our neighbours on Bowes Street will know him as a beloved fixture in our neighbourhood, visiting friends, spreading joy, and brightening countless days with his affectionate nature and playful personality (though I appreciate he can be a bit naughty by climbing into people's flats!).
He was rescued as a frightened street cat from Cyprus, climbing onto my shoulder and refusing to let go. After arriving in the UK very sick, he made a remarkable recovery and became the outgoing, loving companion our community has come to cherish.
The vet bills have already reached £5,000 and that's just the beginning. Despite having pet insurance, this has covered only £2000 and is maxed out. I've already depleted my savings, and with ongoing treatment, medications, specialist care, and the extended recovery ahead, I'm facing an impossible situation.
I never thought I'd ask for help, but I can't let Cinnamon down when he's fighting so hard.
