Kai está recaudando fondos para la comunidad changuisera, incluyendo a un amigo ingeniero de grabación y a artistas mayores muy reconocidos que siguen siendo de los principales portadores de este género. El changüí ha sido marginado durante mucho tiempo, a pesar de haber influido profundamente en muchos géneros de la música caribeña contemporánea. Hoy, esta raíz viva de la música caribeña está en riesgo de desaparecer. Muchos de estos artistas, que han dedicado su vida a preservar y transmitir esta tradición, no cuentan con los medios económicos para realizar y documentar sus visiones artísticas. Este esfuerzo nace del deseo de honrar su legado y de asegurar que su música no se pierda.

Cómo ayudará tu apoyo

Los fondos permitirán llegar hasta los lugares donde viven y tocan los artistas, muchos de ellos lejos de la ciudad, para poder grabarlos con el cuidado y el respeto que merecen. También ayudarán a cubrir la producción del álbum, incluyendo grabación, mezcla y masterización, además de la divulgación y promoción del proyecto. El apoyo servirá para el alojamiento del ingeniero y del equipo de grabación, el diseño gráfico del álbum, los ensayos previos y una compensación justa para los artistas participantes en 15 canciones. Kai quiere convertir este sueño en una realidad para apoyar un género auténtico, folclórico e inigualable. Our Cause

Kai is raising funds for the changüí community, including a friend who's a recording engineer and highly respected elder artists who remain among the leading torchbearers of this genre. Changüí has long been marginalized, despite having deeply influenced many genres of contemporary Caribbean music. Today, this living root of Caribbean music is at risk of disappearing. Many of these artists, who have dedicated their lives to preserving and passing on this tradition, lack the financial means to realize and document their artistic visions. This effort comes from a desire to honor their legacy and ensure their music isn't lost.

How Your Support Will Help

The funds will make it possible to travel to where the artists live and play, many of them far from the city, in order to record them with the care and respect they deserve. They will also help cover album production — recording, mixing, and mastering — as well as the outreach and promotion of the project. Support will go toward lodging for the engineer and recording team, the album's graphic design, pre-recording rehearsals, and fair compensation for the artists participating across 15 songs. Kai wants to turn this dream into reality to support an authentic, folkloric, and unparalleled genre.
