Chanel is an amazing 11 year old little dog, full of love and affection. She moved to Canada in August 2021, arriving healthy, happy, and full of energy, quickly winning everyone over with her sweetness. However, everything changed after an incident where she ate raisins left on the balcony by a neighbor—a food that is extremely toxic to dogs. Since then, Chanel has been struggling with symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, and abdominal discomfort, which persist to this day.

After several exams and consultations, it was diagnosed that Chanel is in the early stages of kidney failure, has inflammation in her intestines, and worrisome masses on her spleen and liver. The veterinarians have warned that these masses could be cancerous, and the only way to confirm this is through surgery. This procedure is also extremely urgent, as there’s a high risk of internal bleeding if the masses on her spleen rupture.

This year alone, Chanel’s parents have spent $4,502.67 CAD on emergency visits, exams, and consultations. Over the past three years, the total costs for her care have exceeded $12,000.00 CAD, completely depleting the savings they had brought when they immigrated to Canada. Despite careful planning and doing everything they could to manage, they no longer have the financial means to cover the $4,207.00 CAD needed for Chanel’s surgery.
