Help Save Chance's Vision
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nicole. I am making this GoFundMe to help out my mom Laura, and her dog, Chance.
In January 2023, Arise Animal Rescue picked him up from the shelter after being found unresponsive at a gas station. Bullet in his back leg, heartworm positive, has intestinal parasites, and trying to eat anything he can.
After a surgery, they discovered that he had no foreign bodies found, but what they discovered was that Chance (aka BP at that time) had trauma most likely from being hit, punched, kicked, and/or hit with force. He had a large hematoma on his spleen and ileus from being starved to death.
On August 2, 2023, Chance found his forever home with Laura, and her dog of 13 years, Yogi.
When my mom brought him home, Arise Animal Rescue paid for his heartworm treatments. But before he could continue with his treatments, he needed a mass and spleen removal surgery. She paid for that surgery in November 2023. She has a full time job, and had to get a part time job on the weekend to help with surgery payments.
Since living with them, Chance fit right in from day one. From stealing the pillows and blankets off the bed to taking long tiring runs in the backyard; and he has no shame in his food-eating game.
Since being home, he has been diagnosed anemic, torn up a bag of yarn while she was at work, and had surgery to remove a cancerous lump from his throat.
As of November 2025, we can now say that he is heartworm free and proud of it. But unfortunately for Mr. Chance, with that same breath, she was told he had a lump in his throat pushing his trachea over on Valentine's Day 2025. After surgery and a 3-day stay, he was finally able to come home.
As of April 1st, she made a vet appointment for him because his eye was looking red and swollen, and at the vet, they told her he has been diagnosed with anterior lens luxation.
(Anterior lens luxation (ALL) is a condition where the lens of the eye dislocates forward into the anterior chamber (front of the eye). This can cause significant pain, vision loss, and other complications.)
She now has another hard choice to make regarding his situation. Either get surgery to fix his eye or have it removed.
With Chance just having surgery on his throat just a month prior, my mom's funds have been depleted.
We are asking for some help with having this surgery for him.
He is a wonderful dog who's had a very rough life. He's a sweetie pie who gets along with other animals and people.
Please, if you could donate, share, and/or keep Chance in your prayers, he could use them.
Donations will go to helping whit Chances eye surgery.
UPDATE 4.12.2025
Chance had surgery to remove his Right eye on 4.9.2025.
He is doing well and is back home. Unfortunately, when my mom went to pick him up, they informed her that now his left eye is starting to do the same thing.
Since its early enough, he can get the surgery to remove the lens, and he would have at least partial vison in that eye still. Otherwise, the alternative is just unmanageable.
Surgery is about 3000.00 to fix the eye. She took out a loan for a much as she could; but that still is leaving at least 2000 short.
The eye specialist said that they do not take in call donations, nor do they take care credit.
Laura is a big animal lover, Yogi and her just love having Chance with them. He is a very loving, friendly dog.
Anything helps, please share, please keep them in them prayers.
UPDATE May 17-2025
Chance did not need surgery for his other eye! He has been doing good navigating around with with only having one eye. Thank you everyone who has donated!
He is such a fighter! I updated pictures of him!
The picture of his X-ray he got on Thursday May 15. He has a gastro Gi blockage, for the past 2 weeks she has been taking him to the vet so he could get barium ran through him to help ease the block. He was unable to poop for 2 weeks before he finally was able to. Thank God! He has been eating little portions of basically pureed food with a pill every 8 hours.
When they did the X-ray to see what the issue was they noticed a spot that they are worried about.
He has an altursound appointment with a traveling DR that she can not make payments with. It has to be paid in full. The cost will be somewhere between $400-$500 just for the ultrasound.
If you all could please continue to share with your friends, family. She would be greatly appreciated. And pray that this is the LAST issue with this baby. ❤️
