Help save Chance’s life and get him home from the ICU

Hi guys !

As a lot of you know Lindsey and Cody have a love like no other for their two dogs (Nali 8 yrs old, and Chance 5 years old). Also known to be some of the cutest mascots for Leveled Up Buffalo and Champs Seasonal Care.

A little back story, Back in 2018 they lost their dog Charming at 4 years old to a rare autoimmune disorder. The news that no pet owner ever wants to hear. As it is never enough time, 4 years just was not long enough. Trying to get thru their heartbreak of losing their soul dog, months down the road, they found out there was another litter from the same parents and that is when they found Chance. This was their “second chance” to get it right. Fast forward, the dogs have been best friends while Lindsey and Cody still keeping Charming’s memory forever alive.

Fast forward to the last few months, Unfortunately January of this year, during routine bloodwork check, they found out that Chance’s platelets, WBC and RBC were extremely low and they were told he needed a blood transfusion. Turns out, Chance has a bone marrow disease with autoimmune disorder just like Charming had. Petrified to say the least, they immediately jumped on treatment with transfusion and steroids. Followed by weekly visits to the vet to keep checking to see if numbers improve. It has been a roller coaster trying to maintain good blood counts. When they thought they were on the up hill, Chance began to take a turn. Chance randomly started profusely bleeding from his nose and they could not control it. Back to the Emergency Vet to do more testing and bloodwork. Bloodwork shows his numbers have AGAIN decreased but not enough for a transfusion at that time but is a possibility. Xrays, biopsies and CT scan was taken to evaluate what could be causing this. Due to his already low platelet levels, losing any blood is not good for this boy. Numbers dropped by half overnight to a dangerously low level of 15, which now another transfusion is needed at this point. Post transfusion, RBC went up to 32. Bloody noses then turn severe and losing too much blood. Rapid and irregular breathing now starts, along with starting to walk abnormal and cannot get up. While evaluating him they found an abscess, a pocket of fluid on his rear leg, which is a bacterial infection. Another chest X-ray was obtained and they have found Chance now also has Pneumonia. Vet now places Chance on 2 antibiotics, one for pneumonia and one for the bacterial infection. While in the ICU, Chance’s heart rate is elevated and his oxygen levels have dropped so they had to place Chance in an oxygen tank kennel for 24 hours. While we are still waiting for nasal and leg abscess biopsies, every day, even hour is crucial. Chance and his parents need our help.

The last few months have been a roller coaster between going home in between jobs for giving medication, more frequent potty breaks every couple hours, sleepless nights to make sure he’s comfortable, constant visits to the vet, countless tests, current ICU stays, all while trying to run 3 businesses. Lindsey and Cody haven’t hesitated to do any and everything they can possibly do to get Chance comfortable and back to being his energetic happy self.

So i am asking for your help to help allow this sweet boy to get the testing, care, rehab and all honestly just all the help he can get. Hoping to help alleviate some of the costs as Lindsey and Cody have been trying to keep their businesses running while taking care of their baby.
