Help Save Cesar's Injured Hand

Hello world, my name is Oscar Prado and I’m raising money to help my cousin, Cesar Cortes Gomez, recover from an accident he suffered while using a table saw.

Back in November of 2024, Cesar was helping a friend install some laminate flooring when he accidentally cut off part of his thumb and sliced open his index and middle finger.

Although we kept the tip of his thumb on ice and did our best to get him immediate medical attention, the thumb was so badly severed and damaged that they were unable to reattach it.

His index finger was badly damaged and dangling by a thread. The emergency room surgeons at Jackson Memorial Hospital performed managed to reattach the finger. It was a complicated procedure, and it is no guarantee that his index finger would be saved or regain mobility.

Cesar returned to Colombia to complete his follow-up treatment and do his best to save and rehabilitate the finger. Once he returned, he upgraded his health insurance and linked up with excellent doctors and surgeons that have been working with him to save his index finger and address more hand/finger issues caused by the accident.

We did not plan to create a GoFundMe to help Cesar; however, there have been some recent developments that pushed us to look for some financial and emotional support.

Cesar was able to complete a couple of procedures and surgeries in Colombia. Unfortunately, Cesar was informed that his insurance benefits have been exhausted and that he would need to pay for additional procedures out-of-pocket.

Cesar has been very careful during the lengthy recovery process, which has forced him to minimize any physical activity. Since Cesar used to work as a personal trainer and soccer coach, he has been unable to return to work with his various injuries.

Although Cesar’s index finger appeared to be healing well, he now requires new and fast intervention. His index finger recently started changing color and turning purplish, which indicates that he is at risk of losing his index finger.

Cesar is unable to work and needs to raise money to pay for additional procedures to help save his finger and recover mobility throughout his entire hand. We are looking to raise $10,000 to help Cesar pay for all the expenses he has incurred since the accident, pay for the remaining surgeries or procedures, and help him cover some basic expenses as he recovers and gets ready to return to work.

My cousin Cesar is a great man that loves to work hard to get ahead in life. He would normally never consider asking people for money or handouts, but recent developments and the possibility of losing his index finger as a result of new complications does not leave him much of a choice.
