Hi everyone,

I never thought I’d be in a position again to write something like this, but I’m asking for help to save my cat, Casper.

At the beginning of March, I brought Casper to the vet because she had stopped grooming herself and wasn’t eating normally. She also began having what I can only describe as “pain fits” (jerking her head to the side when trying to eat or drink, clearly uncomfortable and struggling.) We were advised she would need to be sedated for a full oral exam, likely leading to dental work or extractions. Her bloodwork at the time was completely normal, and aside from the oral pain, she was otherwise a healthy cat. Because of the cost, I made the difficult decision to move forward with palliative care while I worked to save up for the procedure.

Then everything snowballed.

I got COVID and was out of work for 9 days. As someone who is self-employed, that meant no income at all. I went back to work as soon as I physically could, but in that time, Casper wasn’t eating enough.

And now, things have become critical.

Casper has developed Hepatic lipidosis which is a serious and life-threatening condition caused by not eating enough. What started as a dental issue has now turned into an emergency where her liver is at risk. She needs immediate care, and I may need to bring her to an emergency hospital due to how quickly this condition can progress.

So far, I have already spent over $1,000 trying to help her, and I will be posting invoices as well as estimates for continued and/or emergency care.

I hate asking for help. I really do. I’ve always tried to handle things on my own, but I can’t do this alone, and time is not on our side.

Casper is not “just a cat.” She is my family, my comfort, and a huge part of my life.
