Update:

As you may have seen from my last post, Macchi had been in the emergency veterinary hospital since 2 a.m. Friday. He was diagnosed with FIP and was critically ill. We did everything imaginable to save him. Today, around 5:30 p.m., he took a turn for the worse, and there was little left we could do. He was fighting so hard, but he was getting worse. Macchi passed in our arms at 7:12 p.m.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the GoFundMe we started for Macchi or Venmo’d us directly. We used up our savings and maxed out my credit card to provide him with the best possible chance at recovery. Please know that your support will not be forgotten, and we will be forever grateful.

We are deeply heartbroken over his passing, so we would like to thank everyone in advance for their kind words, thoughts, and prayers for our family.

Hi everyone, this is incredibly hard for us to write, but we're asking for help for our cat, Caramel Macchiato. Early Friday morning, we were woken up by him and found him completely unresponsive. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where he has been hospitalized since 2 a.m. He is critically ill and has been diagnosed with FIP. Some of you may remember that our other cat, Potato Gnocchi, was also diagnosed with FIP as a kitten. His case was a different form of the disease, and thankfully he had a much better prognosis and responded well to treatment. Unfortunately, Caramel Macchiato’s condition is very different. He has a more severe form of FIP and was already critically ill when we brought him in. Stabilizing him enough to even begin treatment has been extremely difficult, and his care requires intensive, round-the-clock monitoring and support while we fight to get him through these early days.

We are doing everything possible to save him. So far, emergency care, hospitalization, diagnostics, and treatment have used nearly all of our savings and almost maxed out a credit card, and we are quickly running out of options financially while he is still fighting for his life. We are asking for help to cover the care he has already received and the ongoing ICU hospitalization, FIP treatment, and monitoring he still needs in the days and weeks ahead.

Asking for help like this is very uncomfortable for us, but we love Caramel Macchiato deeply and want to give him every chance we can. Any amount—whether donating, sharing, or simply keeping him in your thoughts—means more than we can put into words.
