This morning, our sweet little dog Camila was viciously attacked by another dog in an unprovoked incident. The other dog was on a leash, but its owner — a homeless man who appeared to be under the influence — lost control. The dog broke free and ran straight toward Camila, who was being carried in my husband’s arms.
Despite my husband’s efforts to lift her away, the attacking dog managed to latch onto her leg with brutal force.
We rushed her to the emergency vet, where she underwent X-rays and blood tests. The results were devastating — all five bones in her little paw are completely broken and separated from her leg. Her paw was barely hanging on; it was almost torn off entirely. We’re heartbroken.
A veterinary specialist believes her paw can still be saved with emergency surgery and metal plates. But the cost of everything — diagnostics, surgery, and aftercare — comes to about $7,500 CAD, which we simply can’t afford right now. The other option would be amputation, which we desperately want to avoid if there’s still a chance to save her leg.
Camila is not just a pet. She’s our baby, our emotional support, and the heart of our home. She’s full of love, joy, and innocence, and seeing her in so much pain, not understanding why this happened, has completely broken us.
We’re humbly asking for help. Every single donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference in giving Camila a second chance to walk and live pain-free.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, compassion, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With deep gratitude,
Evelyn & Miguel
